Activities

The basis of spiritual practice at the Casa Zen is zazen, or meditation. In addition to daily zazen, the Casa Zen offers private instruction in Zen Buddhism, chanting services, study groups, ceremonies, all-day sittings, Zen talks by the teacher (teisho), and talks by senior members of the community (Sangha).

Workshops

Conducted by senior students of Roshi Graef, Workshops are a practical and authentic introduction to Zen Buddhism. During the half-day schedule of lectures, question periods, demonstrations and guided meditation, participants are introduced to the body-mind disciplines of Zen Buddhism.

After Sesshin

Sesshin

Sesshins are extended periods of intensive, silent zazen for experienced meditators. They are held in seclusion, follow a rigorous schedule, and last from five to seven days. Roshi Graef conducts sesshins in Vermont and Costa Rica. Extended sittings of one to two days are also conducted at the Casa Zen.
